Taiwan club was old memeber of CIPC since 1989, The Pipe Club of Taiwan (PCT) initially established by Mr Ben Chen. PCT was actived and had participated in the 7th CIPC World Championship in Tokyo in 1990, and the 8th CIPC World Championship in Copenhagen in 1994.

With the implementation of The Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act in 1997 in Taiwan, the rights of tobacco smokers in the county have been severely restricted.  Consequently, the PCT activities dwindled and eventually ceased in the 2000s. 

Despite of the government restrictions and the limited PCT activities, interactions and activities among the local pipe smokers in Taiwan still remain frequent and is particularly active in the social media scene.

Mr. David Yu returned from Singapore in 2022, he is also an active member of the Singapore Pipe & Cigar Smokers group (SP&CS), during 2023, Dr. Michael Loh and Ms. Avril Gan from the SP&CS visited Taiwan and met with several pipe smokers in Taipei, including Ivan, and also the world-renowned pipe maker, Mr. Jerry Zen, in Kaohsiung. With the encouragement and support from Michael and Avril, PCT has strengthened its resolve to rejoining the CIPC.

In the Feburary of 2023 David and Ivan have decided to reestablish and reactivate PCT with the original founding members. And for the purposes of complying the Civil Association Act of Republic of China(ROC) Taiwan, David, Ivan and other  members decided to rename “The Pipe Club of Taiwan” as “The Taiwan Association of Pipe and Tobacco Culture (TAPTC),” which would be an advantage formanage organization in formal and develop stabilization.

We, members of TAPTC, hereby state our aspiration to rejoin CIPC, with the aim to share the same values, hobbies and interests. We believe that with our rejoining CIPC, this will enhance the promotion and protection of the tradition and culture of pipe smoking in Taiwan and as a worldwide heritage.

We are looking forward returning CIPC families again.
